Statement of Intent 

At Bedford Hall Methodist Primary School, we are committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion and ensuring that all members of our school community are treated fairly, with dignity and respect. 

As part of Epworth Education Trust, we recognise our responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED). We actively seek to remove barriers, improve outcomes and create a culture where everyone feels valued and able to flourish.

To support our work in meeting the Public Sector Equality Duty, the school reviews and monitors information relating to our pupils and school community. 

School Context 

Nutgrove Methodist Primary School is a one-form entry school with 189 children on roll at any one time. The school is judged to be 'Requires Improvement' by OFSTED in February 2025 and 'Excellent' by SIAMS in June 2023.

The school buildings are all on ground level. There is one accessible toilet within the main school and one within the preschool unit. The building is well maintained and all areas and classrooms have disabled access. 

Protected and Vulnerable Groups 

The school monitors and reports on information relating to: 

• Pupils with SEND 

• Disabled pupils 

• Disadvantaged pupils 

• Pupils eligible for Free School Meals 

• Pupils with English as an Additional Language 

• Children in Care and Previously Looked After Children 

• Other vulnerable groups identified through school monitoring 

This information helps us identify barriers to achievement, attendance, participation and wellbeing and informs our school improvement priorities. 

Workforce and Governance Diversity 

The Trust collects and monitors workforce and governor diversity information where this information has been voluntarily provided. This information is reviewed in an anonymised format to help identify trends, monitor representation and support equality of opportunity in recruitment, progression and governance.
