Online Safety

At our school, we are committed to helping children become confident, responsible, and safe digital citizens. We teach our pupils how to use the internet positively and sensibly, whether they are researching, communicating, or playing online. Our aim is to ensure children understand how to make good choices, recognise potential risks, and know what to do if they feel unsure or uncomfortable.

A key part of our approach is helping children remember to stay SMART online:

  • S – Safe: Keep personal information private. This includes your full name, address, school details, passwords, and any other information that can identify you.

  • M – Meet: Never arrange to meet someone you have only spoken to online. If anyone asks to meet, tell a trusted adult straight away.

  • A – Accepting: Be careful when opening files, messages, or links. Only click or download things from people you know and trust.

  • R – Reliable: Not everything online is true. Check information with reliable sources and ask an adult if something doesn’t seem right.

  • T – Tell: Always tell a trusted adult if something online worries or upsets you. You are never alone—there is always someone who can help.

Through lessons, assemblies, and ongoing digital learning, we encourage children to talk openly about their online experiences and to build positive habits that help keep them safe, respectful, and ready for the digital world.
