Geography

As a valued part of the curriculum at Nutgrove Primary School, our geography curriculum aims to stimulate and inspire the children’s curiosity and imagination as they gain an understanding of our world: the people, places and environments that make it and how they change over time. The study of geography in our school will help children to develop a sense of identity and promote responsible global citizens. Geographers at Nutgrove will also have an appreciation of other cultures and celebrate similarities and differences.

We shape our geography curriculum to ensure it is fully inclusive to every child; providing a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum that considers both physical and human geography-locally and globally.

Learning through exploration and investigation is an integral part of geography at Nutgrove and we endeavour to provide opportunities for children to experience learning beyond the classroom through trips and meaningful field work.

We are also a member of the Geography Association. This membership provides specialist support and expert advice for geography teaching, as well as the chance for us to be part of a subject community.
